I DARE YOU TO TRY TO HOLD BACK A SMILE WHILE WATCHING THIS!!!!
HARD ISN'T IT?
This is actually a parody of a Mariachi band. It's from the move "The Three Amigos". However from what I've read, this is pretty much the style of a Mariachi band. They're only exaggerating this jovial qualities of it. The ensemble consists of violins, trumpets, and guitars, and it orginated during colonial times in Mexico. They typically dress in silver studded versions of the traditional outfits of Mexican horseman with wide brimmed hats.
...AND HERE IS A MARIACHI BAND SERENADING THE CREW OF THE USS ENTERPRISE!!!!
The music of a Mariachi band is for celebrations such as weddings and coming of age ceremonies. They are also used to serenade women by playing repetoire that attempts to touch the heart of women.
I really liked this music. I loved the shakers and flute in it. Venezuelan music is a mixture of indigenous music with African music.
I've always loved this tango song. They use it a lot in film. It was played in the movie "True Lies". The tango imerged from Buenos Aires. It draws influence from other dances such as the Flamanco (from spain), Italian folk dance, and the POLKA!!!
You had a lot of variety on your cool stuff. I enjoyed watching every video! I love the tango video. Like you, I have always wanted to take tango lesson. I feel like it is missing out of all the different types of dances I have learned throughout out my life (ballet, jazz, point, etc). I would love to learn how to tango like on Dancing with the Stars! :) It screams Latin America with the different movements the dancers create to the music you dance to. I loved the Venezuelan Flute Music video! What a unique combination of instruments they used in this video. The flute was amazing! The shaker acted like a drum, keeping the constant beat. I love hearing shakers added in to spice up any piece of music. Wow, that guitar player knew what he was doing and did a great job as well. They looked like they were having a blast and were so relaxed throughout the whole video. Latin America just has that certain feel to its music that once you hear it you just know it came from somewhere in Latin America. Thank you for sharing your cool stuff, I thoroughly enjoyed everything!
ReplyDeleteMelissa the fist one is so funny! I did in fact smile - I couldn't help it! As for the second video I flat out laughed. I don't know why, but Mariachi music makes me feel jovial. The third video's music was very pretty. It is sweet. I can see how it would be good for courting. =) When the guitar was highlighted, I could imagine someone singing ballad because of its melody. The tango is a wonderful dance - I posted about it too!
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA!
ReplyDeleteTHE STAR TREK ONE! BRILLIANT! Where did you find that? lol.
I love tango dancing and pieces. Our orchestra used to play a lot of tango pieces with professional tango dancers.. it was a lot of fun.
